Total War: WARHAMMER II Curse of the Vampire Coast DLC Announced! Beware the Undead Pirates!
This DLC is a campaign pack that adds four new lords and a host of new mechanics (which is always a good thing to see devs adding in more gameplay rather than merely characters or units).
Here’s a highlight of all the cool things the DLC adds:
4 new Legendary Lords
New Lore of Magic: The Lore of the Deep
New roster: command towering constructs, ghastly pincered sea-beasts, ghoulish horrors and musket-wielding piratical zombie hordes in battle!
A suite of all-new campaign mechanics:
Treasure Maps: Find treasure maps and dig for booty
Ship Building: Upgrade each Legendary Lord’s unique ship
Infamy: Rule the waves to become the most infamous pirate of all
Pirate Coves: Establish hidden enclaves in your enemies settlements
Fleet Offices: Reward your undead Admirals with positions of power to improve their loyalty
Pieces of Eight: Sail the seas to unlock eight new Regiments of Renown
New battle mechanics:
More Powder: Use your Heroes to keep your gun-lines topped up with ammo
Extra Powder: While black powder is plentiful, each unit will benefit from a variety of missile-related buffs
Creative Assembly has only announced one of the four lords for now.
So basically you’ll be facing or playing a faction that is essentially undead pirates with all manner of deep sea creatures in their armies. Check out the screenshot I included at the bottom of the post. There’s a giant crab… confirmed. Now all we need is a land shark!
On to more serious matter. I know what you;re asking. So what’s the price of this DLC? It’s going for USD$18.99 with a 10% discount if you pre-order it now.
This pirate infested DLC adds some neat new mechanics such as naval engagement that are forced to be fought on land. It’s not what you’re thinking… no. Ships don’t crash into land and fire broadsides… although that would be cool.
Now, in addition to auto-resolving naval battles, you will also have the option of fighting it as a and battle. This will force both armies to land on an island and fight it out mano e mano… or monster to monster.
Still no proper naval battles in Total War: WARHAMMER II though unfortunately. What’s interesting is that the legendary lords from this DLC, while they can be played in the Eye of the Vortex main campaign, it isn’t their objective.
If you don’t purchase the DLC, these pirate captains will still appear in your game as AI factions… taunting and gloating to you how awesome this DLC is.
Creative Assembly will also release a Free-LC together with this DLC… which the term Free-LC doesn’t make sense. Since DLC is an abbreviation of Downloadable Content… so Free-LC is Freeloadable Content?
Anyway it’s just an update to the game for all owners of the game that will add one new legendary lord which they will reveal soon.
If you’re looking to extend your play through of Total War: WARHAMMER II with an interesting new faction, this seems like it could be right up your alley. It looks good though, you have to admit. It;s got colourful giant crab… the best types of sea crabs!
