Total War: THREE KINGDOMS New Trailer Teases A Gorgeous Campaign Map

Total War: THREE KINGDOMS New Trailer Teases A Gorgeous Campaign Map

Creative Assembly released a brand new in-engine trailer for Total War: THREE KINGDOMS (can I just say, how annoying this capitalisation convention CA is using, is to an editor). They've finally drawn the curtains up on the campaign map... well at least we have an idea of it.

While the in-engine trailer is not a 100% representation of the map in the actual game, there's a lot to be gleaned from the brief scenes where the trailer zooms out to the map.

The colours are a lot more vivid with much more epic terrain. The mountainous regions surrounding the cities don't just look phenomenal, but form natural chokepoints, a defensive boon to the city just beyond it.

There are nice animated details showing trade carts moving in and out of cities, giving you an idea of the amount of trade the city receives (and essentially, how rich the city is).

While details about what's new with the campaign map from a mechanics standpoint is... well... light, I'll go out on a limb and say they will surely reveal more about it at Gamescom.

Gamescom starts on the 21st of August and Creative Assembly would surely like to wow the fans. This trailer I'm sure did just that. The visuals look absolutely stunning. But you know what they say, the proof is in the pudding.

Sun Jian, which is supposed to be the central character in this trailer seemed to not make a big impact after the visuals of the gorgeous campaign map.

But we should care about Sun Jian, since he was one of the most influential generals during the late Han dynasty period. He was known for his bravery and resourcefulness.

And based on the trailer, someone who you shouldn't mess with. He believes it's his divine destiny to overthrow the puppet emperor.

Cool. Now show us more of the campaign map Creative Assembly. Not much longer to wait, as Gamescom is a mere 8 days away. Total War: THREE KINGDOMS (gawd that capitalisation again... why CA... WHY?!) is sure to be one of the highlights in the convention.

The game is due to be out in Spring 2019.
